On the 15th of October, 2020, an official from Brand New Music announced on News 1 that, 'Im Young-min is enlisting in the army in early November.' The specific date, time, and enlistment location have been kept private.

Lim Young Min (임영민; or simply Young Min) is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter and composer under Brand New Music. He is a former member and leader of the boy group AB6IX and its project unit MXM. He is also a member of the project group YDPP. AB6IX (에이비식스) is a Korean group that consists of: Woong, Donghyun, Woojin, and Daehwi. Youngmin left the group on June 8th, 2020. Youngmin and Donghyun are apart of the duo named MXM, while Woojin and Daehwi were in the band Wanna One. The AB in AB6IX stands for ABSOLUTE or ABOVE BRANDNEW, while the 6 stands for 5 members plus 1 fandom. Lim Young-min's along with the band AB6IX were all set to make a comeback on June 8, 2020. However, this has been delayed due to Lim Young-min's DUI incident.

In 2017, Youngmin participated in the second season of Mnet's survival television show, Produce 101, and four other trainees from his agency, Brand New Music. He was eliminated in episode 11 after raking 15th place, hence not debuting in Wanna One.

On September 6, 2017, he, alongside other Produce 101's eliminated trainee Kim Dong Hyun, debuted together as the duo MXM with the mini-album, Unmix, and its title track, 'I'm The One.'

On April 5, 2018, he debuted in a project boy group between Starship Entertainment and Brand New Music called YDPP with the digital single 'Love It Live It.' The group was composed of the two MXM members plus two trainees from Starship, Jeong Sewoon, and Lee Kwang Hyun.

In 2019, Youngmin was revealed as a member of Brand New Music's new boy group, AB6IX, consisted of all four trainees of Produce 101 and another trainee from the agency. The group debuted on May 22, 2019, with the EP B:Complete and its title track, 'Breath.' Before their official debut, a performance video of the track 'Hollywood' was released on April 25, 2019.

However, on May 31 this year, Youngmin was charged with drinking and driving and hence got a DUI and had his license revoked. It was announced on June 4 that Lim Young Min would be halting activities due to the DUI on May 31, and he posted a letter of apology later that night. On June 8, Brand New Music announced Youngmin's departure from the group.

Former AB6IX’s Lim Youngmin will be enlisting in the military this November.

According to media outlets, Lim will be heading to the military next month. Being born in 1995, he still has a bit of time before having to enlist, but he has decided to enlist now as a way to reflect on his actions regarding his DUI incident.

They have decided not to release any information regarding the location or time due to the COVID-19 situation.

Back in May, Lim was involved in a drunk driving incident that ultimately resulted in him leaving the group AB6IX.

After much discussion, Lim decided on his own that he would leave the group so as not to cause any more harm to the group.

Lim first became known through his appearance on the 2017 Mnet program Produce 101 Season 2. He debuted through the project unit group MXM with Kim Donghyun before debuting in May of 2019 as the leader of AB6IX.
